Through candid interviews with Smith and star Joey Lauren Adams\, this thoughtful documentary is a trans coming of age love story set against the backdrop of an indie film that solidified some careers and damaged others. \n\nPresented in partnership with the University of Kansas Department of Film and Media Studies\, Lawrence Pride and the Trans Lawrence Coalition. \nQ&A with Director Sav Rodgers Moderated by KU Theatre and Dance/ KU Film and Media Studies Professor Laura Kirk!  \nSav Rodgers\, Director\nSav Rodgers’ experiences as a queer Midwesterner with a wild imagination have spurred the writing of scripts that center on highly specific\, surprising stories about LGTBQ+ people. His screenplays have been recognized by GLAAD\, Outfest\, ScreenCraft\, among others. \nNamed to Forbes 30 Under 30 in 2024\, Sav is also the Founder and Executive Director of the Transgender Film Center\, a nonprofit aiming to help trans creators bring finished films to audiences around the world.
