This screening is SOLD OUT! Join us next month for our screening of Man With a Movie Camera with live jazz score.

The Lawrence Arts Center’s Microcinema Series presents an exclusive opportunity to experience the Cannes Film Festival’s Jury Winner Memoria on January 20 at Liberty Hall. Thai Director Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s newest film is being innovatively distributed as a traveling moving-image art exhibit “moving from city to city, theater to theater, week by week, playing in front of only one solitary audience at any given time” instead of a multi-city wide release according to film company Neon. The film stars Tilda Swinton and will ONLY be seen in theatres, not on streaming platforms or DVD. Thanks to the Free State Festival, Lawrence, Kansas has been placed on the map for this art film’s unique journey, so be sure to get your tickets while you can!

After the screening, audiences are invited to join area scholars for a roundtable conversation on the film’s use of sound at RPG- Restaurant Pub & Games (724 Massachusetts St) as part of the Arts Center’s Science on Screen programming.
