The Watkins Museum of History turns back the clock with an entertaining showcase of films capturing time and place. Screening takes place at the Lawrence Public Library and will feature guest speaker Elle Schneider!
ABOUT THE FILMS:
- The Kansas Marijuana Harvest (1970, 15min), 60 Minutes report on the illegal pot harvest in Kansas. Today, the great pot experiment is a story that’s still playing out.
- Fences and Gates (1974, 25min), a Centron Studios film about musicianship and economics following the journey of Tide, a Lawrence based jazz rock band.
- Shake Hands With Danger (1980 – filmed in 1979), sometimes called the “Citizen Kane of safety films,” this compelling Centron Studies short is a safety film about dangers associated with earthmoving equipment operation through recreated accidents on construction sites.
