Echoes Through a Green Space is a collaborative public art project based around South Park. The project aims to celebrate the history of the public green space by creating an interactive light installation and live musical performance, echoing the park’s unique history as a place for public performance and social gathering.
The creation of a new multi-disciplinary work, to be premiered as the closing event of the 2018 Free State Festival, will be the culmination of a summer-long campaign of outreach events, workshops and social media promotion, inviting the public to share and explore their memories and experiences of the city park. The artists will respond to the images, stories and sounds gathered, with a work incorporating live music, recorded audio, crowdsourced photos and video, and historical imagery, presented during a public installation in South Park.
